An Age Ends

Dressed in a suit of armour,
Gold, silver and bronze.
Preparing for a long battle,
That will someday be in songs.

The end of an Age is close,
It's here our fate discovered.
As we stand ready to fight,
Facing a dark cloud that hovers.

We raise up our swords, our spears,
Our hopes, our spirits, our voices.
Charge straight at our enemies,
Whose weapons and fear create noises.

As we fight, we lose each other,
Hoping for the best and for tomorrow.
For after such a type of war,
This will be a field filled with sorrow.

The end of the battle has come,
We stand victorious, relieved and free.
Though many lives had been spent,
We now understand what evil must be.

It is now, that the time has arrived,
For a new Age to have finally been started.
Most evil gone, fought and killed,
Leaving most loved, and not ill hearted.

  1. This is so wonderful. I think of the battles fought for Middle Earth, and this is such a profound, thoughtful reflection on them and the lives lost. It's amazing.
