The Vineyard

A warm breeze upon my face,
The fragrant scent in the air.
I never thought I'd be here,
In a place, where I'm free.

Free to roam, free to pick,
Free to relieve my woes.
It was like walking through
A corn maze. Rows and rows.

Each turn, a new smell,
Strong, sweet, mouth watering.
While wandering, I dream,
Imagining a whole new world.

Nature surrounded me,
Peace, bird songs and breath.
Blue skies, warm sun,
Nothing to dampen my heart.

I'd wished it was forever,
Dwelling in such a lovely place.
Sadly, until the next time,
It's only just a memory.

Drop Your Guns

The violence in the world,
Brought on by disorder,
By fear, by power hunger.
Adrenaline running through
Every man's veins.

Weapons of destruction,
Have not caused the
Pain in the hearts of
All the world's beings.
It was the men holding them.

Swords, guns, knives,
All used for the same,
Yet different purposes.
Bombs, fire, cannons,
Power gone too far.

Let go of your knives,
Fling away your swords.
They won't help save you.
Put out the wicks of flames,
And drop your guns.

Don't allow the violence,
That controls so much,
Take hold of your fear.
Stand against it with everything,
And end the violence today!

Fear Of Shame

Entering into the dark tunnel,
You stumble along,
The uneven ground. While
Tracing your hand along the wall.
Hoping that nothing awaits you,
Inside. You try adjust your eyes,
So you can see better in the dimness.

You hear something rise from
Somewhere around you. But from where,
You cannot tell. You turn about, facing
All the directions around you. As you
Face towards the entrance, you hear it,
Again, loud, crisp, almost in your ear.
But you still cannot see it.

Your hair stands on end, as you whip around,
Hoping not to come face to face,
With something in the form of a dark shadow.
Holding your breath you catch an unfamiliar
Whiff of something foul. Something strange.
You try to say something, but all that comes out,
Is a coarse rasp from your throat.

Then you hear it, a little further off then you
Would have thought. Thump, thump.
It sounds like padding hitting the ground,
You realize that whatever t is, in the tunnel
With you, is much larger then yourself.
With that noticed, you turn and run,
Leaving the tunnel behind, with it's darkness.

Suddenly, you open your eyes.
You're laying in you very bed, gasping
For air. As you ponder what you had
Just experienced, it hits you, like a
Freight train. It was a dream, where you
Were actually face to face with not a
Monster, but your very self.

A Hug?

As I stand and watch,
I see something unsettling.
Someone nearby,
Has embraced a friend.

I don't understand,
How that's a good thing.
I have always believed,
That it's queer to hug.

At one point in time,
I used to be a hug monster.
But sadly, someone,
Has perverted that in me.

Hugs are the most,
Unsettling, unfimiliar,
Not to mention, uncomfortable
Thing for me to conceive.

Perhaps, one day,
There will come a time,
When I will be able to accept,
This form of affection once again.

Until then though,
It's sad for me to admit that,
I'm selective with whom I hug.
Who knows, that may change.

Wash Your Hands

Wash your hands,
The past is the past.
You can't change,
What you've done.

Turn right around,
Watch the bridge.
It's burning down,
You can't stop it.

But don't despair,
It is only the end.
Here is also a start,
Everything is fresh.

Clear your mind,
Let it be renewed.
Let new things in,
The beginning is now.

You're Shaking Mad!

You look at them,
Thinking how wrong,
Everyone's all been.
You're shaking mad!

They tell you,
That every thing,
No matter what, is fine.
You're shaking mad!

You know lies,
You've told them,
To keep you safe.
You're shaking mad!

There is nothing,
They can do,
To change this feeling.
You're shaking mad!

You wish them harm,
You hope they hurt,
You know it's wrong.
But, you're shaking mad!

Just Discovered

As you change,
The world changes.
Maybe not fast,
Maybe too slow.
But nothing stays the same.

You see things differently,
Not just the complicated,
But even the simple things.
Everything may have been,
Black and white, before.

The colours shine brightly,
Through all the clouds now.
Everything a little bit brighter,
Although, the silver lining thing,
Is a myth...you see it in gold.

Once everything was saddening,
When you couldn't fight harder.
Everything was a battle,
To the very bitter end.
Looking up is now your escape.

When things are trying,
To boggle you back down,
You turn your head up to the sky,
Just to feel the freedom that...
You've just discovered.

Your Drum Beats

Your drum beats
With your heart
Loud and clear
With every desire

Your drum beats
To your hopes
Your dreams
Even your wishes

Your drum beats
Because you live
It's all your own
A song for you

Your drum beats
Along to another
To form a duet
Maybe even more

Your drum beats
Until the very end
Not missing beats
Unlike your heart

Your drum beats
Forever on and on
As remaining energy
That shows you lived

Your drum beats
Long after you
Lived and died
Your drum beats

As I Lay Awake

As I lay awake,
Watching the time go by.
I think about things,
That were, are and might be.

As I lay awake,
Wondering what to do;
I come to several conclusions,
That might change things.

As I lay awake,
I envision the differences.
What I wish for, or expect,
But mostly what I'm hoping.

As I lay awake,
Songs, thoughts and ideas;
Changing constantly in my head,
Even coinciding with each other.

As I lay awake,
I try to figure out what I'm to do.
With my day, my week, my life.
However, nothing substantial comes to me.

As I lay awake,
I believe that everything in my mind,
Is all folly and just a fantasy.
But I hope that it, in the end, happens.

You, I

You smile widely,
You laugh loudly.
You share your thoughts,
You share your dreams.
You speak vaguely,
You tell all sparingly.
You hide the truth,
You fake the joy.

I see the sadness,
I see the through the lies.
I hear in between the lines,
I hear the details.
I hope for your dreams,
I love hearing your ideas.
I hope you laugh sweeter,
I hope you show your tears.

Outside you're putting on a show,
Where everyone can't see,
How you're truly feeling on the inside.
However, I see right through you,
I know exactly what's going on.
You want me to reach out to you,
Why don't you reach out to me??

Even If...

Even if I were to lay my head down,
In a field of golden wheat...
It wouldn't change how I truly feel.

Even if I were to count to ten,
While breathing in and out...
It wouldn't calm me down to relax.

Even if I were to be laughing,
So hard that it hurt to breathe...
It wouldn't change the sadness, inside.

Even if I gave everyone I saw a hug,
And made everyone else feel good...
It wouldn't make me love myself.

It doesn't matter what I try to change,
It always feels the same over time.
I only feel good for a little bit at a time.
